32&U: Team up for Tech!
32& U is a small group of teachers and administrators representing every building in District 181, and we are learning all we can about ‘teaching with technology’ with one goal in mind – to share it with YOU.
Schools need to regularly and visibly use all available resources to present content in fresh, tactile ways. Technology offers us an avenue to reach students through all of Gardner’s multiple intelligences. 32 & U will help all teachers learn the necessary tools to apply technology in the classroom, and this will allow us to address state learning goals from a new and exciting angle. Used appropriately, technology will make curriculum more engaging in ways that traditional textbook methodologies cannot. Students’ lives are already ‘digital’ in many ways, and their school day must also include these elements. Technology skills will be vital to our students’ futures, and as educators, we would be remiss to not properly equip them with as many tools as we possibly can to prepare them for success.
In order for us to help all teachers achieve these rich, instructional goals, 32 & U members have spent the past year receiving training on the suite of Apple applications available to all teachers and students in District 181. These applications include the iWork Suite (Pages, Keynote, and Numbers), the iLife Suite (iMovie, Garage Band, iPhoto, iTunes, andiWeb). As we 32 & U members continually learn more and more about these applications, we will support all of our teachers in the use of these applications in the classroom. 32 & U invites all teachers, students, parents, and administrators to leap forward into the world of digital learning, together. We need to prepare ourselves so we can successfully give our students the building blocks for their technological futures.
