Math-geometry http://www.coolmath4kids.com/ Cool Math There is a section called “Math Reference” which explains math terms in an easy way to understand.  This could be used as a reference for parents, students and teachers. In addition, I found the geometry site to be helpful with ideas for tessellations and seeing 3-D shapes on a screen.  All the polyhedra are on a link showing a picture and how many sides are in each.  I did not find the games to be very higher level, they seemed more fun than learning and fun.The calculator section was interesting.  I could see using this section to stretch thinking.  The site has a few number machines that do not show what operation is being used.  Students could try different numbers and decipher what operation is being used.  None, but there are many other distractions on the page, so make sure that you give good directions to students so they know where they should be navigating.  Students will be able to explain the attributes of polygons and polyhedra to construct 2D & 3D figures

National Council for Teachers of Mathematics There are weekly problems on the home page for NCTM.  The example this week was looking at data and thinking about the census.  The problem had a link to another website as a small webquest.  Teaching Children Mathematics Journal—a great magazine to purchase to continue to think about current issues in mathematics. There is a fee to be a member of NCTM, however, the weekly problems are open to any one who visits the site. Learning Standard D: Solve problems using comparison of quantities, ratios, proportions and percents. (this could change based on the weekly problem.)  NCTM is a great organization to join to further your development as a math teacher!

money_economics_quest.html
Create by a teacher Lisa Mautz in Ohio A Webquest is ready for students to learn about money and economics.   Learing Standard D: Solve problems using comparison or quantities, ratios, proportions and percents. This webquest allows students to look into money and economics in many different ways.  One of the tasks is a foreign currency exchange.  It seems really fun and with a little time taken to complete the webquest first, it would be very useful and meaningful for the students.
Math, stock market webquest http://www.esc2.net/TIELevel2/
projects/stocks/
A webquest is ready for students grades 4-6 to learn more about the stock market.  Some of the links on the webquest did not work, so to use this webquest, we would have to search for links to help students gather background knowledge.  This site would enrich our study of economics and money by giving a real world example of how to save and invest money.  I know that the 4 th grade students at Oak completed a Stock Market game in 2004-2005, I think this site could support student learning.
